Who We Are
The Frank Luke Chapter, one of four Arizona chapters along with those in Prescott, Tucson and Sierra Vista has been a proud member of the Air Force Association for more than 35 years. The chapter was chartered on December 31, 1980, with 43 charter members and 12 service/associate members who were considered charter members. Today, there are approximately 1,800 AFA members affiliated with the Frank Luke Chapter.

Support Active Duty, Air Reserve and Air National Guard families with programs such as dinners for families of deployed service members.

Support Active Duty, Air Reserve and Air National Guard units in the Valley.
Support AFA's Wounded Airman Program.
How We Do It
Since 2000, the Chapter puts on an annual benefit golf tournament including military and community golfers. Community sponsors are recognized with signs at tee-holes acknowledging their contributions. Along with sponsorships, organizations and individuals donate items and services that are auctioned off at the end of the golf tournament.
We appreciate the support of long-time Chapter Community Partners Credit Union West in Glendale and La Loma Village in Litchfield Park, who subsidize the publishing and mailing of the chapter's quarterly newsletter. This allows us to devote more funds to supporting Team Luke. We welcome other such support, as space permits. Credit Union West and other Community Partners each year sponsor teams of military players at the annual AFA Benefit Golf Tournament. allowing the airmen to play for free. Revenue is typically shared with Luke family organizations and AFA's Wounded Airman Program. Donations are also made for official and celebratory events such the Air Force Ball, quarterly and annual awards ceremonies, and ethnic organizations' special events.
The Air Force Association is the leading voice for aerospace power and the Air Force family before, during and after their time in uniform. We are honored to serve as the only non-profit, professional military association that advocates for all Airmen: Active, Reserve, Guard, Civilians, Retirees, Veterans, Industry Partners, and their families. Through our pillars of connectivity, advocacy, and professional development, we value strength in community.
Cultivating Tomorrow’s Leaders with Aerospace Education and STEM
AFA believes in the power that students hold in securing our nation’s future. Yet, only 16 percent of American high school seniors are interested in careers in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). To equip our students with the knowledge and skills required for future innovation, we must increase the number of students and teachers in STEM fields.
AFA is part of the nationwide initiative to improve STEM learning—including aerospace education—to better prepare students for the competitive global economy and increase their chances of becoming future leaders who solve our nation’s toughest challenges.
We support aerospace education and STEM through awards, grants, scholarships, professional development opportunities, and programs.
Wounded Airmen Program
When our Airmen feel low, we raise them up. When they need support, we have their backs. The Wounded Airman Program reminds our Airmen that they are not alone, forgotten, or weak. Through community events and support, we strive to discover newfound strengths within our Airmen they never knew they had. The generosity of donors, sponsors, and volunteers help us care for our wounded Airmen during and after their active service in the Air Force.
Empowering Teachers to Inspire
When teachers or instructors propose innovative, aerospace-themed projects, they unleash their students’ imaginations and encourage bright minds to explore futures in STEM fields. Unfortunately, sometimes a lack of funding prevents these projects from becoming a reality. AFA is proud to step in and offer three types of education grants to make sure those dreams become reality.
